Introduction
Hi and welcome to my E-Portfolio. My name is Ashley Dulin-Smith and I am a Bachelor's Plus student at Ashland University pursuing a license in Integrated Science 7-12 with the hopes to finish the program in the spring of 2013 and starting my career in the fall of 2013.
One of the required classes for this program is Introduction to Principles of Instructional Technology. This course focused on the learning and understanding how to use the new technologies and how to integrate them into our classrooms. Throughout the semester we were introduced to various programs that will help reach the new generation of students and help teach without using a chalk board to lecture. To be an effective teacher in today's schools, we need to be able to adapt to the new technologies and utilize them to the best of our ability.
When this class started I was very skeptical and was frustrated quite a bit of the time. Being out of school for over 10 years, I felt very discouraged in the learning process I had to go through just to figure out how to navigate the new software available. It amazes me what our kids are able to do today without much instruction. As I progressed through the modules I became more comfortable with what I was doing and started to be come confident in my finished projects. Now, I am so excited to get into the classroom and use these. I can't wait to see how excited my students are going to be when I use an interactive PowerPoint presentation to help review material or use a webquest in place of a boring paper/pencil homework assignment. Learning is definitely not what it was like when I was in middle and high school and I am really looking forward to seeing how a classroom works with all the new technology.
My E-Portfolio is the final project for my class and is a compilation of all my projects in this class. Each technology was studied and then was developed based on my grades and content standards. On each page I will explain what the technology is and how it is used in a classroom setting and then will include a link to my project. Please click on the graphic on each page to link out to the project. Please visit my final thoughts page after exploring all my technology projects and leave me any comments or questions.
