What student doesn’t love playing a review game before an exam? I remember that I used to love it and got so excited. Games 15 years ago were very basic and included writing things on the boards and playing a form of Jeopardy using poster boards and note cards. Well, using PowerPoint makes playing games so much more interactive and exciting. For this assignment I made an interactive PowerPoint presentation that mimicked Jeopardy and used it for a geology review. The presentation itself was very easy to make and is quite similar to the way most people know how to set up a presentation except this presentation includes non-linear links embedded within the slides. These allow me to navigate through the game board easily and keep the students engaged. The presentation also includes sounds clips, clipart, and animations which keep the presentation interesting. This assignment met the ISTE Nets – T 2, ISTE Nets‐T 2, a, and ISTE Nets‐ T 2, c technology requirements.
I believe that my students will really enjoy using PowerPoint in this fashion for presentations and reports. Kids today are able to figure out all the neat things the software offers quickly and are extremely creative.
I really can’t wait to incorporate interactive presentations into my lessons!
